As an infrequent drinker, sticking with gin as the spirit is probably best for tonight, as is keeping it simple.
- 2 oz London dry gin
- 3/4 oz lemon juice
- 3/4 oz sugar syrup
- 2 oz chilled mineral water
- 1 dash Angostura Bitters
Shake all the ingredients with ice then strain into an ice-filled tall glass (highball.)
This is incredibly refreshing, I love the sweet lemon flavour. It doesn’t taste strong, which I suppose is a danger. I had never had gin before this evening, and I am finding this drink lovely. I would definitely make this and similarly flavoured drinks again.
