Woodland Punch

I’m a bit reticent about this one. Southern Comfort is a drink from my teenage years that I had rather too much of, rather too many times. Who knows why. I haven’t had it since, but just the thought of it is like a mind time machine. Taste and smell have such power to evoke strong memories, and the taste of this drink is so distinctive that it is very easy to conjure it exactly.

  • 2 oz Southern Comfort
  • 1/4 oz Cherry liqueur
  • 1/2 oz Lime juice
  • 2 oz Pineapple juice
  • Top up with soda

Shake all the ingredients except the soda with ice then strain into a tall glass (highball) over ice. Top with the soda (about 2 shots.)

I had no problem drinking this, so my trepidation was not justified. The SC was just one flavour, rather than dominating the drink. It was a very easy drink and definitely one I’d come back to.

On another note, I think my glasses are too big. The recipe does direct to use a Collins glass but, since they come in different sizes, the instruction “top up with soda” is pretty bloody useless.
