I’ve been on holiday in Turkey for a couple of weeks. I had planned to seek out some good drinks and note a bit about them, but the cocktails were pretty shocking. I honestly don’t know where I got the notion that they wouldn’t be; it was of course all party drinks made with cheap booze and worryingly luminescent mixers. I’ve been reverse inspired to make an awful looking drink which might be good, and came across this.
- 1 1/2 oz White Rum
- 3/4 oz Midori (melon liqueur)
- 3/4 oz Coconut Rum
- 2 1/2 oz Pineapple Juice
- 3/4 oz Lemon Juice
Shake everything with ice and strain into a tall glass (highball) filled with ice.
I used lime instead of lemon juice, because I left some limes in the fridge while I was away and they survived well, whereas no lemon did. It tastes lovely. Very smooth and easy. It’s on the sweet side, but forgivably so. It’s actually satisfying to drink something which looks like this but tastes good. My taste buds are probably shot though, if they weren’t before my trip.
