Even though the calendar claims it’s now autumn, it is still quite hot here, so perhaps not the time for Drambuie. But I saw an irresistible offer in a local supermarket so resist it I didn’t. I’m not the biggest fan of JD, but it may be because I’ve only ever really had it with Coke, and I’m not a fan of that either. But it was Richard who chose a cocktail for this evening, and he predictably went for a whiskey based drink.
- 1 1/2 oz Jack Daniel’s
- 1/2 oz Drambuie
- 3/4 oz Orange juice
- 1/2 oz Lemon juice
- 1/4 oz Grenadine
Shake all the ingredients with ice then strain into a tumbler over ice. Garnish with orange peel.
With fresh ingredients this is a really good drink, but I can imagine it would be very forgettable with packaged juice and bad grenadine. Fortunately I have now made my own grenadine, so I can be really smug and superior about that.
