This drink was created by Joe Robinson at the Standby in Detroit, USA. It is still on the menu there.
1½ oz Blanco tequila
1 oz Lime juice
1 oz Ginger syrup
¼ oz Angostura bitters
Shake all the ingredients with ice, then strain into a tumbler filled with ice. Garnish with a mint sprig (which I didn’t have, hence the lime.)
Spicy, sweet and slightly dry. Ginger, lime and tequila were separated at birth. Everything here is in perfect harmony and it’s actually not that bitter, despite the high amount of Angostura. It’s intriguing what large amounts of bitters can do, and there are a variety of such recipes out there to try. This is a drink that has me really excited about making cocktails, because it’s not only wonderful to drink, but has me imagining the possibilities for combinations of ingredients.
